Its the most demonic structure in WWE and careers have been permanently altered by its unforgiving steel. Some of the biggest Superstars in WWE history, including Shawn Michaels, Mankind, Undertaker, Triple H, Batista and more, have had signature moments in the Cell. Now, for the first time, fans can watch the greatest Hell in a Cell matches in WWE history in this collectors set, hosted by Mick Foley.

This is an extensive look at the best Hell In A Cell matches since it’s debut in 1997 with Shawn Michaels Vs. Undertaker. Hosted by Mr Hardcore himself, Mick Foley, he intervenes before each match to give the viewer a little insight into it in true Mick Foley fashion! At the beginning of each DVD, ‘The Devil’s Playground’ chapter is a ‘promo’ clip of the making of the cell and little bit of background to it; and it is also nice to see we are given some background to each match in the form of the pre-match montages, letting us get a slight history and reminder as to how the matches came about in the first place, rather than a DVD full of matches thrown on there with no explaination.

Little disapointed that this year’s Undertaker Vs Edge Hell In A cell match wasn’t on there from Summerslam but Im not entirly sure when this DVD set origionally came out so it may have missed the deadline! At least we did get the Undertaker/Batista HIAC Match from 2007’s Survivor Series, where Edge made a dramatic come back, clocking Undertaker with a TV Camera!
Called the WWE’s most sadistically vile structure, the Cell definately creates a lot of WWE memories for it’s fans and. Im sure, a lot more nightmares for the competitors in the matches! Foley claims that he has to relive his ‘hell’ (he was in 4 out of the first 5 Hell In A Cell matches) almost every day because that’s what fans ask him about the most!

Kicking off with one of my personal favourites, the origional Hell In A Cell, Shawn Michaels Vs The Undertaker from 1997’s Bad Blood pay-per-view, and the proclaimation from Vince McMahon on commentary that ; “This could be the last time you ever see Shawn Michaels!”

Although I wasn’t watching wrestling at this time, I have seen this match on the Shawn Michaels: From The Vault DVD, but will never get tired of watching it again! Sometimes you can never make a sequel as good as the first, and in my opinion this one still tops the lot. With a basic blank canvas and nothing to comapre it to, they make use of the steel steps, chairs, the ropes and of course the cage setting the standard for all the Hell In A Cell matches that followed it. Shawn at one point, wiping out a camera man & stopming on his head for getting in his way! Of course as they open the cell to get the injured camera man out both HBK & Undertaker spill out of the door, fighting on the floor, Undertaker torpedoing Michaels into the side of the cage over and over until Shawn bleeds, and climbs up to the top of the cell to try and escape Undertaker. The camera work from inside the cell, filming them up through the roof of the cell is awesome and to see them fight up so high, and hear the sheer excitement of the crowd is fantastic! Then we see the segment that would grace a thousand video montages, that of Shawn falling from the side of the cage through the announce table! Of course this match also saw the debut of Undertaker’s ‘brother’, Kane, who rips the cell door from it’s hinges and Tombstone’s Undertaker in the middle of the ring, leaving Shawn Michaels to crawl over and get the pin! I think every wrestling fan should see this match!

Honorable mentions to the famous Undertaker Vs. Mankind at King Of The Ring, and great to hear Mick Foley giving us some insight into it before we see the match!

I also HAVE to mention the brilliant 6 man Hell In A Cell match from December 2000 – definatly my era of wrestling and featuring The Rock, How can you go wrong? Foley was the comissioner, Austin had been run down with a limo, the Rock was wearing the ‘shirts’, Triple H had that cool ‘My Time’ entrance music and Angle still had hair! The good old days! I still get goosebumps when I hear “IF YA SMELLLLLL…“! Has to be my second favourite match on this three disc DVD after the Michaels/Undertaker one! I just loved watching this again & I know my kids will definatly get a kick out of this match!

Moving on to Discs two and three we close the gap between history and now with Hell In The Cell Matches from Chris Jericho/Triple H in 2002, to the excellent Triple H Vs. Shawn Michaels match from 2004, Orton Vs. Undertaker from 2005 is another one I have to mention, right up to the 2007 match between Batista and Undertaker and featuring, as I’ve already mentioned, Edge’s triumphant return from injury, with a bang! And a whole lot of matches inbetween!

Buy it! Whether you’ve been watching wrestling for the past 20 years or only for 20 months this is one DVD set you absolutely MUST have in your collection, I can’t fault it!
