Hailing from the Staples Convention Centre in LA on August 23rd, Summerslam is billed as the ‘Biggest Party Of The Summer’ and is regarded by many WWE fans to be one of the main pay per views of the year. There were matches from all three brands on the card, Raw, Smackdown & ECW & it did turn out to be a pretty good show!

The opening bout sees fan favourite, Rey Mysterio taking on a newcommer in comparisson, the arrogant (but awesome!) Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship. Of course putting Mysterio first on the bill is a sure way to get the crowd fired up and they were into this match from the opening pyros!

This makes the crowd a little quieter for the MVP vs Swagger match up next. Still a good match but the arena is definatly not as pumped up for this one.

I have never been a fan of the pairing of Jericho and Big Show, but their match against Cryme Tyme was pretty damn good! The crowd eventually got into it, having been a little quiet at the start and the guys put on a great match.

DX vs Legacy is of course one of my favourite bouts of the night and it didn’t fail to entertain as you can expect. DX are WAY over with the crowd and Legacy end up looking pretty damn awesome by the end of it thanks to Michaels and Triple H!

Three title matches close out the DVD with Christan Vs Regal for the ECW title, Orton vs Cena for the WWE Championship and last but by no means least, Jeff Hardy takes on CM Punk in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the World Heavyweight Championship. A match not to be missed for sure and Hardy and Punk do an AWESOME job in this brutal main event. The ECW match was a complete disapointment however with Christian getting a quick pin and then being beaten down by Regal and his cronies. Surely there should have been more time for this match between these two great wrestlers?

The extra on the DVD doesnt appeal to me as it’s a Divas Battle Royal, but at least it’s a ‘home video exclusive’ and not something that everyone has seen before!

I enjoyed Summerslam a lot, but if you bought the origional Pay Per View I think that’s enough money speant on it. Had there been more exclusive extras on this disc Ic ould see the attraction in shelling out for it, but unfortunatly once again the WWE don’t seem to be trying to tempt us into buying these DVD’s very much do they?
