Honky Tonk Man, Roddy Piper and Goldust argue over who was the greatest Intercontinental Champion

Cyber Sunday was the Strange case of ‘The Poster Boy’ who wasn’t even ON the pay per view! My feelings towards this one differ from year to year but I don’t vote because I beleive they put on the matches they have already decided on! But, it’s different and I guess a lot of people DO vote. This year however they changed the usual internet voting over to text voting in the US only and I think that was a bad mistake. A lot of fans outside of the US were very disgruntled and I can’t say that I blame them! They did offer us the ‘Choose A Diva’s Halloween Costume’ vote on wwe.com… ok then.

First match of the night was Kane vs Rey Mysterio, stipulations being, No Holds Barred, Falls Count Anywhere and 2 Out Of 3 Falls. It wasn’t a bad match, me being a Kane fan I still can’t get into the “David and Goliath’ storylines, but it could have been worse. Good way to open up the Pay Per View and the crowd Pop big style for Rey.

Matt Hardy is up next and his possible opponents are Evan Bourne, Finley or Mark Henry. Bourne wins the vote and I can’t say that I was disapointed with that outcome. It was nice to see Evan ‘Air’ Bourne grounded slightly for some of this match, but not too much so it was slow. This was a good match, entertaining although the crowd weren’t as into it as they could have been, it’s always the same with a face vs face match even if you are Matt Hardy! I couldn’t put my finger on what was slightly off with this match, all I can think of was it either was meant to look like the vet vs the rookie or.. it came across that way because that’s actually what it was?! Either way, I liked it. I didn’t mark off my seat over it but it was good. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a BAD Matt Hardy match!

The tag match turned out to be Cryme Tyme vs The Miz & Morrison. I couldn’t really understand WHY the guy they had used to promote this pay per view wasn’t even on the card. The Tag match was good, but I still would have prefered a ‘CM Punk’ outing at some point.

Possible opponents for Santino Marella’s Intercontinental Championship are Honky Tonk Man, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Goldust; Honky Tonk Man wins the vote with just one percent (35% to Piper’s 34% and Goldy’s 31%) The match isn’t underway very long when Beth Phoenix grabs Honky Tonk Man’s leg causing Santino to get disqualified! Goldust and Roddy Piper get into the ring and Santino is stuck between them and Honky Tonk Man. He, of course gets beaten up by them all.

Undertaker Vs Big Show turns out to be an I Quit match. (Options and Vote percentage are –
Knock Out Match – 9%
I Quit Match – 42%
Last Man Standing Match – 49%)

The match isn’t as BAD or as dire as I thought it was going to be. It’s not a slow, lumbering bore fest that I expected; it’s actually quite entertaining. The announce table gets completely decimated when Big Show choke slams Undertaker through it and another good spot was when Undertaker went ‘Old School’ and jumped off the rope straight into another Big Show Choke Slam! Very good offering from the two ‘big men’ and I didn’t even mind watching this again!

The diva’s match has ONE plus side and that is Victoria. Her banana costume is hillarious. Other than that Im really not interested.

Triple H could have faced Jeff Hardy. Vladimir Koslov or both of them in the options available to vote for. Fans chose Jeff Hardy on his own! I remember when I watched this on PPV, I wanted Jeff to get that title so badly. Lots of action, although not one of their best bouts together, cross faces, swantons, Whispers in the wind, Twists Of Fate and countless counters and according to JR, Hardy having an outer body experience…  I think I missed that one! Very enjoyable match but the outcome wasn’t so good that time around for Jeff!

Jericho vs Batista and it wasn’t rocket science to work out that Austin was going to get chosen to be special guest referee. I think it’s the first time Shawn Michaels was in a vote and lost! Orton got 4% HBK got a staggering… 22% and Austin got the rest.

Not long into the match Jericho decides he’s had enough and starts to walk away but Austin then gets on the mic and says if Jericho walks out or gets DQ’d the title WILL change hands! Jericho reluctantly has no choice but to go back into the ring. Theres a LOT of action in this match, mainly from outside with Orton, HBK and JBL doing run-ins during the match. When they DID wrestle in the ring it was good, but I think the shine is taken off their match by everything else that happens to be going on around them. Definatly worth seeing again though.

I would buy the Cyber Sunday DVD for my collection because it was a good pay per view. Not the greatest ever but still worth another look. The extras once again are my gripe although the ‘legends’ arguing over who was the greatest IC champion is funny.. I just want more extras!!
