Ok so the 2002 Royal Rumble doesn’t seem to have the same mark-out value on paper as the 2001 Rumble that I have just watched, but still a couple of good matches on there in the form of Rock/Jericho and Edge/Regal that I am looking forward to watching before I even get the DVD into the machine!

Edge is the current Intercontinental Champion and ‘3 days ago’ on Smackdown had a meltdown at the way Regal kept getting away with using brass knucks in matches, and smashed everyone in the face with a chair.. including the ref! So, in a pre-match interview with Lillian, Edge once again says he’ll be taking his ‘chair’ to the ring to ‘Edgeucate’ Regal’s face! Unfortunatly for Edge, Regal has a spare set of ‘Knucks’ hidden away somewhere… and look out for Teddy Long in Referee mode!

Undisputed WW(F)E Championship match between The Rock and Chris Jericho completly blows the rest of the matches on the card out of the water! The Rock became the number one contender for Jericho’s ‘titles’ by beating Booker T on Smackdown and from then on it became not only a battle in the ring but a battle of words between two of the greatest mic-workers that have EVER graced the WWE! I could listen to those guys trash talk each other for hours! who needs a match? LOL
The Rock completly pops the roof off the place, as soon as ‘IF YA SMEEELLLL….’ booms out of the Titan Troon, the crowd are on their feet in unison, it’s an awesome sight to see and one we will probably never see again other than in old footage like this! That entrance theme still gives me goosebumps to this day! The Rock gets Jericho to tap out but the ref is distracted by Christian and Lance Storm and Im already screaming at the TV! “Good God Almighty!” JR screaches as Jericho gets a ‘Rock Bottom’ through his announce table! Classic! Classic! Classic! In fact I got so into this match that I forgot there was still a Royal Rumble match to come on this DVD!

A BONUS appearance by HBK at WWF New York! YOW! 😀

All I can say is buy it! This ‘Tagged Classics’ set has to be one of my favourite all time double DVD’s the WWE have released so far! If you were a fan back then it is TOTALLY worth the trip down memory lane and if you weren’t a fan back then buy it anyway and take a look at how it should be done!!
