Over The Limit May 23, 2010

Over The Limit took place on 23rd May this year and came to us from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The promotional poster featured Edge running towards the camera, the DVD cover is different and features Cena and Batista staring each other down.
The pay per view kicks off with the Scott ‘The Chosen One’, Drew McIntyre defencing his Intercontinental Championship against fan favourite, Kofi Kingston. Great match to start the show off, some crazy spots and a run in from Matt Hardy.

Ted DiBiase vs R-Truth isn’t really much to write home about. If you are a fan of either of these guys then I’m sure you’ll enjoy the match; but for me it was the ‘fast forward section’ of the DVD I’m afraid.

The SES Pledge vs The Mask was more entertaining than I expected it to be. Straight Edge Society members, Luke Gallowes & Serena, were banned from ringside to stop any interference. There is a point in this match where everything is halted after Punk busts his head open and they wait for the blood to be stopped and the injury to be patched up. The aftermath of the match does see the Straight Edge Society get involved, and Kane too (But I won’t give away the outcome incase some of you haven’t seen it or have been on a lunar mission for the past 6 months!)

Big Show is seen warming up backstage when in walks Jericho. He thanks Big Show because if it wasn’t for his arrogance The Miz and Jericho would never have teamed up together in the first place. Funny segment with The Miz showing up aswell!

Hart Dynasty vs Miz and Jericho is up next and the crowd pop big style for the Harts & I do admit I don’t think I’ve seen them look this good in a match since they started out with the WWE! Whether that is down to themselves being good or their opponents beeing REALLY good is a decision I’ll leave to you!

An awesome match between Edge & Randy Orton follows. I don’t see how they could fail with these two guys in the ring together and definatly the biggest crowd reaction of the night for Randy Orton! Unfortunatly the match falls slightly flat near the end after Orton reinjures his shoulder. His arm is hanging limp and it looks terrible!

Jack Swagger vs Big Show is an ok match, nothing to shout about but if you have the time to sit and watch an entire pay per view then it’s not the worst match you could see!

The ‘I Quit’ match between Cena and Batista doesn’t suck as much as I expected it to! I’m a huge Cena fan but I’d rather watch any of these guys wrestle themselves than wrestle Batista! it’s around 15 minutes long, give or take, (but it does feel like longer!) and of course, the usual weaponry is involved at some point during the match, including a car, & they even go up into the crowd and use the various barriers and steps up there to try and make each other say ‘I Quit’!

The extras on this DVD, I’m pleased to see, are worth watching. They include the match between Bret Hart and The Miz for the United States Championship on Raw prior to this pay per view and some very funny ‘commercials’ featuring Santino Marella as ‘Most Irritating Man In the World’ and a ‘Priceless’ add for Ted DiBiase & R-Truth.

Overall I’d recomend you  buy this if you haven’t already paid for it when it aired or if you’re a collector!
