North East Wrestling Society 1st Anniversary Show. Ligero is first British Champion!

As the scheduled International Innovators Exhibiton got started between Pac and Bingo Ballance, Lowthian came out and inserted himself into the match making it a 3 way match. A lot of high flying for Pac and Bingo and some hard hitting from Lowthian went on for a good 15 minutes before Lowthian, aided by his agent Julian Werther Chambers, managed to steal the spotlight from the NEWS debutants in an exciting opening contest.

After the match JWC got on their microphone to explain that while Lowthian was his first client, his second client would be crowned NEWS British Champion tonight. JWC refused to reveal who he was talking about though as the crowd seemed to question why any of the fan favourites Max Heat, Martin Kirby or El Ligero would align themselves with JWC or Lowthian.

Another NEWS debutant had more luck than Pac or Bingo Ballance as Carbon defeated Gorilla Warfare in a strong first showing for Carbon. Warfare would appear again later!

Fast & Furious (Max Heat & AJ Anderson) retained their NEWS Tag Team Championship belts in another cracking match against Full Pack (Micky Long & Iain Robinson). The win was marred, however, as Max Heat, scheduled to also compete in the NEWS British Championship Tournament Final later, ended up sidelined with a knee injury picked up during the match. After the victory Gorilla Warfare seemed to leave his Order of Chaos allegiance behind as he and a new partner jumped champs AJ Anderson & Max Heat, causing more damage to Heats knee. Full Pack initially aided the gatecrashers in abusing the champs but tension quickly set in and both Full Pack and this new team were at each other too. AJ Anderson finally cleaned house and although the MC had to advise of Heats exclusion from the main event after the interval, he also advised that on 22nd July Fast & Furious will defend their titles against Full Pack and this newly formed team in a 3 team Triple Threat match.

Order of Chaos (Cameron Kraze & Prince Ameen) controversially defeated Dragon Ryders (Lewis The Dragon Chambers & Robbie Ryder) in another good tag team contest with the young, up and coming tag team putting on a great showing in their NEWS Tag Team Division debuts but their inexperience was exposed by veterans Kraze & Ameen in the end.

Andy Swan grabbed a big upset win over former 3CW & wZw Heavyweight Champion Lance Thunder tonight in a very technical match. Not many would have expected Swan, yet to win in a NEWS singles match, to beat his bigger and more experienced opponent but on this night Swan stood up to the test, took everything Thunder had to offer and surprised the North East Bulldog to pick up an impressive victory.

Now Martin Kirby versus El Ligero due to Max Heats injury and subsequent trip to hospital, the popular duo and occasional tag team partners started an even contest before being interrupted by JWC (with Lowthian) who confirmed his new client was in the ring, ruling out any alignment with the injured Heat. During the match Lowthian & JWC would involve themselves a little, initially favouring El Ligero. When they later clearly favoured Martin Kirby, the concerned crowd of approximately 250 were no clearer as to who was betraying who or if JWCs claims were true.

During an exciting back and forth contest, referee John Myers took an unintentional boot to the head, giving JWC & Lowthian their opportunity to get involved, as both competitor lay on the mat, trying to recover. JWC picked up Ligero while Lowthian stalked Kirby but just as fans thought Ligero had betrayed Kirby, Lowthian clocked Ligero with the ring bell as JWC held the Mexican from behind. Kirby embraced Lowthian & JWC to the crowds disgust and helped referee, Myers, to shake off the cobwebs and make the 12kick out! The crowd went crazy for Ligeros sign of resilience and while Lowthian, JWC and Kirby seemed to look to each other for Plan B, Ligero grabbed a much appreciated victory as the crowd left their seats to congratulate the first NEWS British Champion.
