– In an interview with the London Free Press, John Cena explained why won’t turn heel.

“Although I can handle business when I need to, I really make conscious choices to do the right thing. There’s still a giant portion of the audience associated to the Attitude era that I believe thinks I am a bad guy. But I’m not a bad guy. I generate so much hatred just because of the way I act. I look at Tim Tebow as a good example. People couldn’t stop saying his name. He’s such a stand-up guy. People don’t believe it because it’s almost too good to be true. And he generates that hatred,” Cena says.

“I have fun with this business. I love every second of it. I love to be right there in the middle of the hunt. At the end of the day, it’s not my job to force people in any direction. I just to out there and see what happens. You can analyze character development all day, but with the current state of affairs, there’s no need or rationale for me to deviate from what I’m doing.”

Cena also discussed his work with Make-A-Wish Foundation. The interview is available here.

— Bill Maher mentioned The Undertaker during his opening monologue on Friday’s edition of Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is back with a new blog on jrsbarbq.com. Here are some highlights:
– “WWE friends who have seen the Cena/Rock TV special in its entirety that airs on many the NBC Universal platforms next week have raved about the one hour broadcast. I’ve been privileged to see several snippets of the show and I, too, was impressed. WWE has their ‘A Production Team’ working on this personal look at both @JohnCena and @TheRock with the overwhelming bulk of the footage being behind the scenes. From what I have seen, this is a must see for all WWE fans and those who follow the business in any manner. It airs just before RAW this Monday night and then throughout the week on various NBC-U networks. I’d assume that WWE.com will have a listing of the air times.”

– “Is WWE leaving Florida with their developmental program? I see many, positive changes occurring in WWE Development in the future but leaving Florida isn’t on the radar as best that I know. I’ve always said, and I’m sticking to my story, that WWE has no more important department in their company that the development of new talent. I do see WWE Developmental growing and growth is often looked upon as ‘change’ and ‘change’ is too often perceived as a negative.”

He said, “Get this. In Arizona, a state legislator wants a law where if a woman wants an abortion, she has to watch another woman get an abortion. Yeah, I know, they keep one-upping each other on what you have to do. By the end of the year you must defeat the World Wrestling star, The Undertaker!”

– Both Epico and Jack Swagger turned 30 years old on Saturday. Former WWE Superstar Barry Horowitz also turns 52.

— WrestlingFigs.com reports Maria Kanellis and Demolition will appear at Royal Collectibles 96-01 Metropolitan Ave. Forest Hills, New York on Saturday, May 5 from noon to 2:00 p.m. Call 718-793-0542 for more information.

— WWE’s Once in a Lifetime: The Rock vs. John Cena airs in the United Kingdom on Sunday at Noon on Sky Sports.

— WWE Superstar David Otunga poked fun at the consistently flat ratings for TNA’s Impact Wrestling.

He wrote on Twitter, “If imitation is the highest form of flattery, I’m flatter than Impact’s ratings right now. #OtungaLaw.”

In a recent interview with Associated Press writer Dan Gelston, The Rock may have hinted at the possible main event for WrestleMania 29 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

When asked about the idea of Rock facing Brock Lesnar next year, Rock’s response was “I’m not saying a thing,” as he began laughing, before ending with “I didn’t say anything.”

It remains to be seen if it was a “red herring”, but with word coming out that WWE would like to book the main event a year in advance for the second consecutive year, we could be finding out soon.
