Capitol Punishment 19th June, 2011

Capitol Punishment was the Pay Per View prior to the Money In The Bank extravaganza, which is just as well because had it tried to follow it, it would have failed pretty miserably! It’s one of those pay per views that I can’t even remember watching; maybe I didn’t. If it wasn’t a ‘freebie’ on Sky Sports I doubt very much that I’d have purchased it.

Originally aired on June 19th and staged in the Verizon Centre in Washington D.C. the show kicks off with a United States Championship match between the Champion, Kofi Kingston and challenger, Dolph Ziggler. Decent match to start the night with lots of action, as you would expect from any match with Kingston as a participant.

There were some unfortunate skits involving a Barrack Obama impersonator that just weren’t funny or in my opinion necessary to the show in any shape or form.  It’s at that point that I realise I have without question NOT seen this pay per view before!
Stand out matches on the disc are most certainly Christian vs. Orton (Another fantastic match up even if the outcome wasn’t what it should have been!) & I really enjoyed Alex Riley Vs. The Miz. Punk against Ray Mysterio is good; but I got bored with watching Mysterio a long time ago. Still a decent match worth sitting through. And the main event is a little slow to say the least.

BUT!!!! The Special features didn’t exactly suck (shock!) Although there weren’t many of them as is the norm, at least we got an interview with Christian which is definitely a bonus!

If you didn’t buy the pay per view… well there was probably a reason for that!
