Newsflash

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

DO OR DIE IN THE FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE GAUNTLET.

Six men will enter a match on March 22nd with one thing on all of their minds. 1PW Championship glory.

To the victor, the spoils. The winner will go forth to 1PW's KNOW YOUR ENEMY Doncaster Dome spectacular with an opportunity to strike gold.
For either Sterling James Keenan, Hubba Bubba Lucha or Darren Burridge, April 19th could become a nightmare they'll never awaken from.

For all but one of the above wrestlers already have a match at Know Your Enemy and should the winner be evil and cunning enough, they could force a weakened champion to defend a title immediately after their respective contest. Or, will the winner choose to face the man who claims he cannot be beaten by any British Wrestler, the man who has claimed he'll bring his OWN opponent to the Doncaster Dome as nobody in 1PW is worthy, 1PW World Heavyweight Champion, Sterling James Keenan.

But before any competitor dreams of becoming a champion, he must first turn his mind to this Saturday.
On the morning of March 22nd, all six combatants will draw a number. This number will tell them how many other wrestlers they have to beat to make their dream happen and begin their possible path to becoming a 1PW legend.

For Pac, Martin Stone, Joey Hayes, Darkside, Gary Player and Lionheart, this Saturday is paramount. The top of the mountain is now within reach, who will reach out and grab it and who will fall?

PAC vs MARTIN STONE vs JOEY HAYES vs DARKSIDE vs GARY PLAYER vs LIONHEART

FIRST NAME:
The high-flying (and now highly seasoned and well travelled) Newcastle native has not been seen in 1PW active competition since the VERY MERRY XMAS SHOW, where he was unsuccessful in his quest to regain the 1PW Openweight Title and take it with him 'to Japan'. In fact, after that match PAC was said to be very down, and felt his actions towards the fans had let himself down. He used to be one of the most cheered and loved members of the 1PW roster and hates the fact that relationship has been sullied. Should Pac win the Gauntlet match, we believe it likely that he would challenge for the 1PW Openweight Title again, as we know Pac is keen to regain the championship he put on the map and give fans "the match against Darren Burridge they deserve, a total knockout and match of the year".

SECOND NAME:
Many look at this man at one of the premier names wrestling in the UK today, an individual frustrated at himself because despite his success in wrestling, he has yet to taste gold here in 1PW. This is match he sees as HIS match, his opportunity to break out, mark his territory and become a top dog. That man is MARTIN STONE. Whatever the result by the end of the Fight for the Future match, with a man like Martin Stone involved, you can guarantee that a few of the other competitiors will be visiting the dentist by the end of March.

THIRD NAME:
The third wrestler throwing his name into the mix is more than capable of winning the gauntlet, it's only his actions of late that make us NOT want him to win it. A supremely talented young wrestler, who many predicted to move on to bigger and better things in 2008 and beyond. A man that many have said is the perfect balance of speed and skill, if only his attitude matched his talent. In January, he decided to turn his back on 1PW and his best friend Ruffneck, instead alliging himself with the spreading disease known to us the Damned Nation. In an industry where Titles equal power, the more titles Damned Nation have, they more power they will posess. It is likely that JOEY HAYES will find himself in shark infested waters on March 22nd, with five other competitors ready to seriously hurt him for his disloyality.

FOURTH NAME:
The forth competitor in the Fight for the Future Gauntlet match on March 22nd is a man regarded as a massive future talent for 1PW. Despite having less than 20 professional matches under his belt, he shows ring savvy and technique far beyond his level of experience. A man that has already won over the hearts and minds of the 1PW crowd, shooting from almost nowhere and becoming one of the most popular athletes to compete inside a 1PW ring. At only 25 years of age, GARY PLAYER has been handed the opportunity of a lifetime. A win in this match would lead him to the very top of 1PW, a shot at any title he desired and truly solidfy his status as one of the premier talents wrestling in the UK today.

FIFTH NAME:
Gauntlet name number five is a odd individual to say the very least. He has seen his star rise, threaten to burn out and fall, all in a very short space of time. When we last saw him on February 23rd, he was uncharacteristically quiet and reserved. This though, could be bad news for the rest of the 1PW roster, as many are now wondering if this is the calm before the storm. Since his loss at the Second Anniversary Show, he has struggled to find his place, perhaps a loss in confidence for the man who beat former ROH World Champion Austin Aries last year. The fire however, still burns. At Underground 6, despite his quietness, he unleashed a series of savage forearms and many double stomps that almost caused serious injury. Will the Gauntlet bring the beast back out of DARKSIDE?

SIXTH NAME:
From the mouth of 1PW General Manager, Adam Curtis.
"The final name for this match is by far the biggest star in it. I wanted the wait for this announcement to be big, because frankly, he's in league of his own anyway. A man seemingly ignored by the masses and management of 1PW. This is the hardest working guy in the UK today, hell, i'd even say the WORLD. Every bookmaker up and down this country will stop taking bets on this gauntlet right now, because i'm about to give you the winner, LIONHEART."

SIGNED TODAY - REVENGE FOR GENESIS?

This past Sunday at the 1PW Academy show FULLY CHARGED, MATT SLATER defeated Aaron James. After this match, Slater announced that he was going to gone from 1PW for some time, as he is going to the United States of America to 'make himself a true star'. It was later on that night, after the hard fought match between JASON GENESIS and KRIS TRAVIS that Slater decided to take an opportunity to leave a parting shot for 1PW fans, blooding Genesis with three consecutive steel chair shots to the head. Although dazed and confused, Genesis paced outside the Granby, telling many fans during the intermission that he would extract revenge on Slater before he goes for good.

With less than a week of time left in this country, Matt Slater hadn't planned on wrestling again before leaving the UK. In fact, when 1PW management made the call to him earlier today, he almost swollowed his tongue before accepting the challenge.

JASON GENESIS vs MATT SLATER.

PRINCE AMEEN CLAIMS THE GRANBY IS LIKE A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.

Never one to mince his words, PRINCE AMEEN, fresh off beating Robbie X on Sunday (whilst ensuring that the Donny Bull wasn't allowed to answer his challenge), has claimed that the Granby resembles a third world country.

"My goodness, i've never seen poverty like it. There are people living in mud huts in Somalia, sending their children out to make sports trainers for less than 12p an hour who have access to cleaner water than in the Granby. My challenge still stands, anyone whose name ISN'T Donny Bull can enter the ring for a chance to take home £5000 by defeating me. Imagine how much bug repelant the people of the Granby can buy to remove the flies from their faces for £5000?"

HUBBA BUBBA LUCHA vs BRITRAGE, NOW FOR TAG TEAM TITLES!

When we previously announced this match, the winning team would go on and become two of the representives for TEAM 1PW on April 19th to face the DAMNED NATION in the DAMNED TO HELL match, it appears the stakes just got a little higher.

This past Sunday, at 1PW Academy: FULLY CHARGED, Hubba Bubba Lucha defeated the Damned Nation to become 1PW Tag Team Champions in what was the loudest reaction the Granby had ever heard (for those of you who haven't seen it: ). 1PW Management quizzed the new champions on how this would affect their match this Saturday against BritRAGE and they were more than happy to up the stakes.

On March 22nd, it'll be: BRITRAGE vs HUBBA BUBBA LUCHA for Damned to Hell qualification and the 1PW TAG TEAM TITLES.

NEW CHAMPIONS WILL FALL QUICKLY CLAIMS CURTIS.

Co-General Manager and Interim 1PW Chairman, Adam Curtis has been running his mouth once again.
"Congratulations to Hubba Bubba Lucha. That was one of the most emotional nights of my life. Enjoy the last few weeks of your championship reign, because after mauling Zebra Kid and Sam Slam, KID FITE and LIAM THOMPSON are coming for those belts. And yes, fans of 1PW, I said MAULING. You uneducated idiots seem to be ignoring the obvious, Kid Fite and Liam are hungry. Sick of being ignored by management and fans alike, they want success more than any other team i've ever laid my eyes on. Watch, in horror, through the cracks in your fingers as all your heros start to fall, one by one."

Which quickly promoted a response from Co-General Manager Ruffneck:

"Ah Curtis. You have NO idea what you've let yourself in for do you clownshoe? I've already ordered bodybags and coffins for your boys, all you have to do is write a fitting eulogy. See you on Saturday"

So the match was signed and sealed for March 22nd. Expect a level of smash-mouth and hard hits never before seen in a 1PW ring as the GM-PIRE's KID FITE and LIAM THOMPSON take on the ZEBRA KID and SAM SLAM.

...I DON'T THINK HE PICKED THIS MATCH!

Of late, Keith Myatt has been picking his own opposition from the 1PW Academy locker room. The once respected Head Trainer has seemingly lost his mind and is doing whatever he takes to bring down his students (and specifically Gary Player by the looks of things), which in turn has raised the temper of another wrestling legend. The 1PW office recieved a phone call last week, the man on the other end was shouting and swearing and we could just about make out the following:
"I don't like what that Keith Myatt is doing to his students. He doesn't respect the future of wrestling. Well, if one person can teach him respect then it'll make sure that's me."
Expect no clowing about in this one, expect no dance-offs because the WILD EYED SOUTHERN BOY is back. On March 22nd, watch in awe when KEITH MYATT faces TRACEY SMOTHERS!
