Newsflash

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

Finally....all is right in the world, or at least in the WWE. The Brothers of Destruction, The Undertaker and Kane both are Champs! Now is the time to enjoy the WWE. This is the first time in recent memory that no more deserving talent in the business both hold titles at the same time. Bonus to us, is that they are two of the most loyal and respected wrestlers this or any wrestling company will ever see, and "brothers" to boot!

Kane will terrorize the ECW like no other champion ever has. Chavo will rue the day he asked for a rematch. Anyone else in the locker-room that has the guts to step up and challenge The Big Red Machine, have at it, but keep in mind your match with him may be even shorter than Chavo's was at Mania...if such a thing is possible. Long may Kane rule ECW!!!

Now to THE Taker. Noone is more deserving than he is. UT was to have a long run last year, when injury cut it short. Nice to see VKM and the powers that be, honor Taker's loyalty and give him his long run now. Be it Edge, Big Show, Khali or CM Punk, he needs massive help if he comes after Taker's title, they will all REST IN PEACE as the Deadman rules the WWE hopefully until the next Mania.

Once again, I want to give major props to the Taker for breaking character to come out and pay tribute to Ric Flair. Given Taker's gimmick, it is difficult for him to appear at public events or show up for things like this. But, he put that aside for Flair and paid his respect. It just cannot be stated enough how much of a class act Taker is.

We've also got Batista/HBK looming. Awesome feud to look forward to! Two of the WWE's best and also loyal talent in what will be one for the ages. This outdoes hogan/HBK by leaps and bounds. Sit back and watch a great American in Batista and a great man of...dare I say it in a wrestling column....of Faith in Shawn Michaels. Can't ask for more than that.

As for HHH/Orton/Cena/JBL, when it all comes out in the wash, I see Cena recapturing gold. HHH has a new baby at home and he has his priorities in order. He can't devote the time it takes to be an effective champ right now, so he is doing the right thing and letting others have the limelight. BTW, to all those ragging on HHH for supposedly hogging the Mania main event spotlight, do the math, he is 0-4 in the last 4 main events at Mania. Sound selfish to you?

In closing, again, there is never a better time to be a WWE fan than right now. It further goes to show, we do not need the likes of Duane, Austin or Hogan for the WWE to succeed or for noteworthy storylines to develop.

Duane can stay doing "B" movies, Hogan can stay on the beach with the chick half his age, and Austin as The Big Show put it, "Steve is so da*n negative about everything...." can go on crying about how he never gets his way and his DVD stinks. Remember Austin the wife smacker? We forgave, and are blessed with him skipping Mania and Flair's retirement. Sounds like a fair swap to me....WHAT?

Enjoy all the storylines, they are great right now, best that I can recall in years. Kudos to Vince, the WWE, and the writers. Sit back and take it all in, it is gonna be a fun ride!!!
