ANGLE BANGED UP AT PPV- Kurt Angle got pretty banged up during his match with Samoa Joe at Sunday night's TNA LockDown PPV. After the match Angle's back and neck were both hurting. Angle was no-selling the injuries backstage but the belief is he was actually briefly knocked out during the match. After the show was over, everyone headed back to the hotel where the TNA stars were staying. Karen Angle arrived before Kurt and told fans in the lobby that Kurt was hurt during his match and wouldn't be able to sign autographs or take photos. When Kurt arrived, he had a large icepack on his neck. He got a huge reaction from the fans in the lobby, but Kurt went directly up to his room and did not return. Angle and Joe worked a very stiff match at the PPV. Many within TNA are seeing their match as an example of how the TNA style could evolve to include more aspects of Mixed Martial Arts. Kurt Angle will get a rematch against Samoa Joe at this weekend's Northeastern Wrestling event this Friday in Newburgh, NY. Source: PWInsider.com
TNA PPV NOTES- Vince Russo was in the back of ringside area by the TV and light area . He was there during the Kip James vs. B.G. James match and came back for Lethal Lockdown and Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe match. He looked very thin. There where about three or four other TNA reps or production people with him watching from the ringside area. SoCal Val was at ringside for the entire pay-per-view. During the Angle vs. Joe match, a lot of fans chanted, "We want wrestling, not MMA." Prior to the pay-per-view, the new blonde female backstage interviewer was at ringside letting fans take pics with a TNA title belt, as was SoCal Val with another belt. A few spurts from the crowd of "Cena sucks" and one loud chant of "Yankees suck." Funny. The Lethal Lockdown t-shirts went for $20 and were the best sellers. The shirt listed Boston, Mass. as the pay-per-view site rather than Lowell, Mass. The arena itself had plenty of empty seats at the two sections on the opposite side of the ring. The crowd went nuts for the A.J. Styles and Christian Cage bump on top of the cage. When Curry Man climbed the cage it looked like he slipped. Biggest pops: Sting and Booker T. The live crowd was split between Joe and Angle. Joe didn't get a huge pop until he pinned Angle. Roxxi Laveaux got a nice pop. She wrestles a lot in the Boston area for NECW and other indy promotions. Many fans where disappointed in Kip and B.G., and Robert Roode vs. Booker T matches being so short. Not sure how it came off on pay-per-view, but Matt Morgan got like zero response from the crowd when he made his entrance for the Lethal Lockdown match. He was bleeding from a cut to the back of his head late in the match. All in all, the crowd was hot and seemed to be very happy with the event. Source: prowrestling.NET
BEHIND-THE SCENES AT LOCKDOWN PPV- At Sunday night's Lockdown PPV, TNA president Dixie Carter was running around introducing herself to the fans and posing for pictures. Dixie Carter came to the ring and announced that Lockdown was the largest live crowd in TNA History. She thanked everyone for making it possible and said she met hundreds of TNA fans this weekend. Jeremy Borash and TNA Live Events executive Craig Jenkins hyped up the crowd before the PPV went on the air by promising backstage passes for the loudest fans Sunday night. Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and So Cal Val did a surprise pre-show signing in the lobby Atlas Security was brought in to work the PPV. The place was rabid. The building was not 100% sold out as there are some sections that aren't full, but it still looked very impressive TNA had two local DJs come out before the show and they were terrible. Earl Hebner got a huge pop coming out Source: PWInsider.com
