Newsflash

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

MEXICO NOTES-
Dr. Wagner Jr. went public in saying that he is not happy in CMLL. Wagner claims he is not being pushed because the company wants only puppets. AAA's television production is expected to get a boost with the hiring of Hector Melendez. Sean Waltman (X-Pac) will be out of rehab in a few more weeks. Vampiro is booked for AAA's 6/1 show in Merida. There is a lot of negativity about bringing him back because of how he walked out the last time.

SHUT DOWN-
A wrestling show at the ECPW wrestling school on Saturday was shut down by Lake Hiawatha Mayor Michael Luther, because live events were not among the allowable uses of the wrestling school due to zoning regulations. They've run shows regularly there but what happened was a card was advertised as "one of the most brutal wrestling matches ever conceived" (a ladder match) and a story ran in the paper and the city shut the event down.
