Newsflash

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

--There is an article at www.zap2it.com/ about Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling TV show. The show, which starts taping soon for the fall season on CMT, features Hogan as the star and will consist of two coaches, each with five celebrities, who will be trained to wrestle as well as battle it out in non-wrestling challenges. Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey are the producers. Celebrities haven't been announced yet.

--New England Wrestling runs tomorrow night in Theills,NY and 5/4 in Bloomfield, CT. GA tickets are only $10 for both nights. In Bloomfield it's the Warhawk Rumble at the Bloomfield High School with Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner for the TNA title, Xaiver vs. Ron Zombie in a street fight plus Lawler, Sky and Jay Lethal

--A correction from yesterday's report. The Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich match that aired both Tuesday and Wednesday night on ESPN Classics was a match in Nashville, not the more famous Superclash match from Chicago. It was a buildup where Von Erich pinned Lawler after a piledriver, but it was reversed because the piledriver was illegal, which Von Erich "didn't know," in the state of Tennessee. Lawler then claimed because in World Class, the title could change hands via DQ, that he should be both the AWA champ (which he was) and World Class champ (which Von Erich held at the time). The late Wednesday night show saw the Midnight Rockers of Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty over the original Midnight Express of Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose to win the AWA tag titles. Michaels and Paul Heyman (manager) were both in the TV main. Also, the guy we listed as Steve Travis in a match involving Mick Foley, was Billy Joe Travis. That made a lot more sense. There was also a guy named Samoan Joe, who was not the current Samoa Joe, who would have been a young child at that time.
