The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

- Matt Cappotelli has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment for his brain cancer. As we previously noted, Cappotelli remains under contract to WWE and is still in living in Louisville, KY. During a recent promotional tour of the U.K., WWE Superstar John Morrison said he socializes with Cappotelli and his goal is to wrestle again. Morrison has known Cappotelli since their “Tough Enough” days.

- Before his suspension, WWE was planning a long-term Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho program. The WWE creative team was searching for a new feud for Jericho to be involved in since it was felt that his program with JBL just wasn't clicking.

- Due to the higher tickets prices for this year's WrestleMania, WWE has already surpassed its own record $5.38 million gross of last year's WrestleMania. The $5.38 million figure approaches UFC's $5.397 million record for Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell in 2006.
