Newsflash

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

WHO WERE THEY?
Deon Davis played Senator Barack Obama, while Lexie Fyfe played Senator Hillary Clinton on WWE RAW last night.

NOT MUCH PRESS-
Not too much mainstream coverage of last night's Raw featuring the presidential candidates. Most of the articles covering the show simply printed quotes from McCain, Obama, and Clinton's pre-taped promos. It's probably safe to say the media was preparing for today's Pennsylvania primary and didn't want to bother with watching the show last night.

TOTALLY BORED?
The crowd was totally bored by the Obama vs. Hillary match. Bill got some pops but the overall segment did not go over well live.

SITES-
One of the sites World Wrestling Entertainment is considering for its physical Hall of Fame is Universal Studios Orlando, making it a walk through attraction at the theme park.  You just know TNA will be thrilled to read that.  The park currently has a similar attraction dedicated to actress Lucille Ball.  Shane McMahon said recently the Hall is likely a few years away, but my gut feeling is that if they were to install it at one of the Universal theme parks, it would happen much quicker.

BLOG ENTRY-
Jim Ross posted a blog over the weekend on jrsbarbq.com commenting on there being zero KOTR tournament participants confirmed, giving him little prep time for the event. Ross also addressed rumors of Mike Adamle being brought into WWE to eventually replace him. "In my mind I am far from ready to tap out and call it a career," he said. "Was Mike Adamle brought in to replace yours truly at some point? Beats me. And I don't care. I do know that my best days are yet to come behind the mic, or at least that is how I choose to approach my work. As it relates to wrestling announcing, interesting days lie ahead."

LONG FLIGHT!
Despite her back issues, Torrie Wilson flew to Japan to take part in promotional appearances for World Wrestling Entertainment last week.  That's one hell of a long flight for someone with disc issues in her back.

WRESTLEMANIA 24 DVD-
The WrestleMania 24 DVD will be a three-disc set featuring the 2008 Hall of Fame ceremony, but not the Ric Flair tribute from Monday Night Raw (which will more than likely end up on the new Flair DVD coming out this summer). Many expect this to be the highest selling pro wrestling DVD in history. The current record holder is the WrestleMania 22 DVD.

IS-
For all the criticism of Mike Adalme, he is the type of announcer WWE looks for. WWE has passed over experienced announcers in the past, preferring to hire guys they feel the company can groom. Believe it or not, WWE paid Adamle $300,000 to be more than a backstage interviewer, and despite his age (he'll turn 59 this year), he is being groomed for one of the major WWE television shows.
