Newsflash

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than wwe and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. Rey Mysterio is being advertised for Smackdown House Shows in June.

Today's edition of the New York Times features a look at World Wrestling Entertainment as a company. Overall, it's a positive piece that says WWE has bounced back from several setbacks (Eddie Guererro, Chris Benoit) to emerge as a powerhouse on Wallstreet. Here are some notable quotes: A Barack Obama Campaign Staff Member: "...for the same reason we taped a segment with Rachael Ray — this campaign has been about reaching out to new voters and getting them involved in politics, so it’s important to reach as broad an audience as possible.” UFC President Dana White: "People have been trying to count the WWE out for years. They’re a powerhouse.” Linda McMahon Explains WWE's International Expansion:: "We first introduce our product into the marketplace via the television show. Once we’ve introduced our talent and our story lines via television, then we follow with live events and licensing and merchandising.” CNBC's Jim Cramer on Why WWE's stock isn't valued higher despite it's upside: "They don’t watch WWE. Maybe they look down on you when you watch it. Too bad for them.”

Randy Orton had another incident on the recent European tour. Orton was upset that the hotel staff woke him up earlier than he was scheduled. Orton then put clothes on, took his food from room service, went down the hall and threw the food on the staff that woke him up. Orton reportedly laughed after the incident and went back to his room.

When the Raw crew landed in Portugal, there was an incident where a fan grabbed Maria. This apparently scared her a lot. She was about to make a formal complaint when Umaga overheard the story and demanded to know who did it. Umaga never found the guy, but Maria was physically shaken over the incident.
