Elimination Chamber Prediction Contest by The Mat Pack

February 18, 2012   ·   0 Comments

It feels like only a week ago since we held a prediction contest….wait a minute it was a week ago. First we must address the fact that a member of the Mat Pack has left the group. Farewell Marty! We would like to wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors….wait what to do you mean he sat in a white limo outside….

Oh poor Marty! Anyway let’s move on look at the standings

Lee: 5 out of 7 – 71% Success Rate

Gavin: 17 out of 25 – 68% Success Rate

Adam: 16 out of 25 – 64% Success Rate

Ziggy: 4 out of 7 – 57% Success Rate

Tom: 14 out of 25 – 57% Success Rate

Marty: 5 out of 25 – 20% Success Rate STATUS UNKNOWN AFTER LIMO EXPLOSION

Now the boring maths is out of the ways….let’s move on to the predictions for WWE Elimination Chamber

WWE Divas Title Match
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Tamina Snuka

Addy Flair:This is just another filler feud for Beth Phoenix until Kharma returns full time. Beth will win here yet again and then proclaim that she has beaten everyone the company has to offer. Then Kharma will return and take the belt off Beth at Mania.

Winner and still Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Gav Anderson: I think the old Snuka add on is a bit strange it’s not like they didn’t always bang on about who her dad was every time we see her, but now we get her full name yay us. Fairly crazy how easily Beth has been beating people (former champions too) but Tamina has had her fair share of wins too but I don’t think her time is quite here yet.

Winner and still Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Tom Blanchard: So this is why Tamina was built up, huh? I have no doubts that Beth will win this one and go into ‘Mania where she faces a ‘real challenge’, i.e, Kharma or a retired Diva like Trish or Lita.

Winner and still Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Lee Windham: I don’t think this match will amount to much other than to give Beth another victory to kill the time until karma returns ready for Beth v karma at mania finally giving us a decent women’s match at Wrestlemania.

Winner and still Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Ziggy: I don’t really understand what is exciting about Tamina. I can understand that people want a serious divas match for once but why don’t they turn Natalya face instead of having her fart on tv? Tamina does one move and then hits a splash from the top rope and that suddenly makes her the best choice for an opponent for Beth Phoenix? I just don’t get it. I’m expecting nothing exciting. Beth Phoenix will win.

Winner and still Divas Champion: Beth Phoenix

Overall Prediction: Beth Phoenix [5-0]

Ambulance Match
John Cena vs. Kane

Addy Flair: Poor Zack Ryder! He spent a whole year getting himself over with the WWE Universe to become Cena’s Broski, Kane’s punching bag, Ex- United States Champion and Eve’s friend. Anyway this feud ends at the PPV! I think Cena will win with the help of Zack Ryder, so that Cena can move onto building his feud with The Rock, and Zack Ryder can go on to feud with Kane and get the Wrestlemania match he truly deserves.

Winner: John Cena

Gav Anderson: So we have been building up to this for a while with match after match bit of a strange storyline if I’m honest trying to get Cena some fans before mania and his fan appreciation was at his highest when he was a heel. But Cena helping Ryder didn’t win him any fans so they decided to have Cena betray Ryder my thinking however is Ryder will attempt to help Cena despite what happened but it will end badly as Kane and his “amazing new move” will win.

Winner: Kane

Tom Blanchard: This should be a Cena win to show him ‘rising above hate’, just before his hate-filled feud with Rock can kick up for ‘Mania. A bit of me wants to say that Rock gets involved to screw Cena over but I doubt it will happen.

Winner: John Cena

Lee Windham: Again another match that’s pretty transparent John Cena is just a little over a month away from the biggest match of his career do you really think he’s going to lose against Kane? Sadly even if he did lose and was beaten close to death he would probably open up RAW all smiles and unicorns like nothing happened.

Winner: John Cena

Ziggy: If they wanted to be clever they would have had this match at the Rumble, have Kane win and John Cena disappear for a month to return a month later to save Ryder and then turn on him. That way they could have a whole month to build up this match with The Rock to eventually turn John Cena into a full heel. So I guess John Cena wins this in a hard fought match and then concentrates on The Rock.

Winner: John Cena

Overall Prediction: John Cena [4-1]

Elimination Chamber for the World Heavyweight Title
Santino Marella vs. The Great Khali vs. Big Show vs. Wade Barrett vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan

Addy Flair: This is probably the worst turn out for a chamber match since ECW’s Extreme Elimination Chamber! First we have Khali, who can barely move at the best of time, Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett, who have lost their respected steam thanks to Orton. Santino Marella is clearly only in it for comedy. Big Show is apparently going to be feuding with a celebrity for Mania so he won’t win. That leaves one man, and that is Daniel Bryan, the man who has transformed on the mic in recent months. Bryan will win and then Sheamus will announce after that match that he coming after his championship…..FELLA!

Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Daniel Bryan

Gav Anderson: Okay so I think this might be an average chamber match, I don’t invisage anything spectacular in this one, I think the fact that Orton isn’t in the match has really taken the sting out of it I think it falls to Bryan, Rhodes and Barrett to make this match good. I can’t really think of a lot to say about it Big Show will want to hunt Bryan and Khali will just swat at people like King Kong on the Empire State Building.

Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Daniel Bryan

Tom Blanchard: Easily one of the weakest Chambers that we’ve seen in quite some time, but I can see Santino being taken out pre-match in true Kingston/Edge style… maybe by Mark Henry or Christia? Unlikely, I know, but it would certainly improve the match. Would still much rather see Khali taken out though. Anyway, I think Daniel Bryan will retain his title – narrowly.

Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Daniel Bryan

Lee Windham: Le sigh, what’s the point in even having this match I’m guessing Santino won’t actually make it into the chamber a la Kofi Kingston a couple of years ago only to be replaced by a returning Alberto Del Rio. The match should be ok but I can’t see anything amazing going down hopefully Khali isn’t in the match for long I was going to pick Randy Orton but he’s out now so I’ll go with a wild card.

Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio

Ziggy: I don’t care that Santino is in this match. The simple fact that they through The Great Khali in this match instead of someone like Ezekiel Jackson, Justin Gabriel or Jinder Mahal. They have these mid carders with some talent and instead of pushing them to a stage where they might actually prove they deserve to be in the upper echelon of the card they put The Great Khali who hasn’t done anything cool since… since… since… he said that Chris Master’s peck dance was mesmerising. So Santino is fine, I mean he might even do something cool. Daniel Bryan should retain under dubious circumstances and continue on to Wrestlemania.

Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Daniel Bryan

Overall Prediction: Daniel Bryan [4-1]

Elimination Chamber for the WWE Title
The Miz vs. R-Truth vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. CM Punk

Addy Flair: If Jericho doesn’t come out with the win here then his big return loses all its steam. First he promises to end the world at the rumble and lost it to Sheamus. Now he is promising to win the WWE championship, and if he doesn’t then why would anyone believe that he is the best in the world at what he does? So Jericho MUST win!

Winner and NEW WWE Champion:  Chris Jericho

Gav Anderson: I think this match will be really good if I’m honest probably MOTN as these are all fast paced no nonsense competitors I think Kofi and Truth will be out fairly quickly I was tempted to put Miz to win I had a feeling but it makes more sense for Jericho to win, I’d assume it will be Punk and Jericho last.

Winner and NEW WWE Champion:  Chris Jericho

Tom Blanchard: This one is really setting the stage for a pre-‘Mania confrontation between Punk and Jericho, but the only question is: who wins? I want to say a Punk victory to make sure Jericho doesn’t repeat what he did two years ago, but it doesn’t seem like the best way to set up the match at ‘Mania. Nevertheless, I’ll say a Punk win and hope that WWE doesn’t feel like repeating itself on this occasion.

Winner and STILL WWE Champion: CM Punk

Lee Windham: Really the only decent match on the card. This has the potential to be really fun im looking forward to seeing what Ziggler and Jericho can do together Kofi should bring crazy fun flying stuff too. Its hard to pick a winner but I think we know it’s between punk and Y2J let’s hope WWE don’t go the lazy route!

Winner and STILL WWE Champion: CM Punk

Ziggy: This is the only reason to buy this PPV. This Chamber match looks so good. You’ve got such a stellar line up here and really the only people I wouldn’t put a title belt on right now would be R-Truth and Kofi, they need a little bit more time in their new main event positions before I could see them as a probably World Champ. You’ve got feud converging all over the place here. Miz/Truth, Jericho/Punk, Punk/Ziggler and well Kofi sort of something or other. My choice? CM Punk. It makes sense. The only other person who should win would be Chris Jericho.

Winner and STILL WWE Champion: CM Punk

Overall Prediction: CM Punk [3-2]
